PCC volunteer leaders and interested people from various Mission Parishes celebrated one Year PCC in Bontoc-Lagawe. We are reaching out to almost 400 families with more than 50 trained and commited volunteer leaders. With us were Sr. Tere from the PCC national office and Linda from PCC Novaliche.
The volunteer leaders shared their experience about Celebration of Life in their communities. Many members from the Catholic Womens League (CWL) shared how that program helps to reach out in different communities.
All learned how to balance children rights and responsibilities. They had a hands on workshop regarding child development milestones, to improve their services during home visits.
We were trained in herbal soap making (good for treating sensitive skin) and mixing food supplements for malnourished children.
For the second year PCC in Bontoc-Lagawe we would like to share the program with more families, more volunteer leaders and more communities – but step by step – quality not only quantity matters!!!
If you are interested, you may contact the vicariate Family and Life office via your Mission Rector.
Another PCC traning with Sr. Tere is scheduled for August 24 – 27 in Paracelis. We are looking forward to continue the training of 21 volunteer leaders, who are reaching out to 126 families with malnurished children and pregnant women.
We appreciate the commitment of the volunteer leaders (many of the members of CWL!), who continously attend in remarkable numbers our ongoing formation for family and Life Core Teams.
You would like to serve couple and families? Join the Family and Life Core Team of your Mission Parish and be trained this year (ask your Mission Rector for more details or contact the F&L office in Teng-Ab):
September 2-4 BASIC COUNSELING SKILLS TRAINING Teng-Ab
speaker: Dr. Alda Perlita Polestico (Family Pastoral Counseling Association Philippines )
November 4-6 RESPONSIBLE PARENTING and ALL NATURAL FAMILY PLANING Teng-Ab
speaker: Bishop Ledesma, Cagayan de Oro and NFP Team
December 2-4 FAMILY ENRICHMENT and COMISSIONING of F&L CORE TEAMS Teng-Ab
speaker: various Families from the Cordillera
F&L Core Teams including members of Knights of Columbus, Couples for Christ, Catholic Women League and others gathered in Teng-Ab for an assembly.
We started with inculturation: Documentation on the Bontok Culture (walang rape sa bontok by Habi Kolektib) and had a good sharing on good values in other cordilleran tribes – seems that the Kankanay and Ayangan are not so different in terms of good family and community values! We are left with the challenging question: how to pass on our good traditional values in todays globalized world to sustain healthy and inspiring families / communities?!?
Our companion throughout the assembly was the “Final Report of the Bishops Synode on Family: The Vocation and Mission of the Family in the Contemporary World”.
Our speakers were: Fr. Harry, Fr. Ed and Fr. Marcs.
Please tune in Fr. Marcs song for the Year of the Family: HOME
The next F&L Core Team training will be on counseling per District in the last week of May (we will soon finalize venues and dates).
